Lightnin Strikes Again - Dokken - Under Lock And Key (CD, Album)

After several more listens I find myself skipping tracks much as I did back in the day with Dokken releases after Tooth and Nail. It's this that makes me say this album is truly a return to the Dokken I remember from back in the day Metaleagle May 5, Jon Levin does a great job though.

Metalrob May 5, As has been pointed out Disease is the only real let down track Maybe Mick Brown should be released from writing duties - sorry Mick - but all in all a good album from start to finish. Certainly got a classic Dokken feel throughout. Yes there are the "its no good without Lynch" brigade. I refer those people to the only ever bad Dokken album - Shadowlife - featuring Lynch. Jon levin does a Modulator April 15, The only awful song is "Disease" - rest of them are true Dokken classics!

Yes, Don Dokken don't have a high range voice like in the past but his performance is soulful and very easy for listening. I got limited edition of album with bonus song "Sunset Superstar" wich is a great track and realy gives the album more rockin' vibe.

Jon Levin's guitar work is beautiful! What I am over joyed to report is that Dokken have released their best album in two decades. There is more to this band than the voice. The review is a little unbalanced IMHO. It could've been written with a bit more understanding of where Dokken are at now. KVK, Levin hasn't replaced Lynch as if it's a just a recent thing - as you appear to intimate. He's been with the band on and off since , permanently since Originally submitted to www.

How do you like some classic Dokken? And how about the album with Reb Beach ripping, Erase the Slate? I like them. Certainly not a fan of Don's lack of singing abilities, but that was a bit of a common gripe with a few 80s hard rock bands for me. Dokken's tenth album Lightning Strikes Again was released after a delay of a few months earlier this year and features the line-up of Don on vocals, Jon Levin on guitars, the ever-reliable Barry Sparks on bass, and Mick Brown on drums.

The two opening songs are classic Dokken. Not as good riffs-wise but with Jon Levin's incredible George Lynch clone solos, this is a good start. If you came to an opinion about the album with the first three songs, the fourth one titled Disease is going to make you change that. While the first three songs was 80s rock in a nutshell with the third one, Heart to Stone even sounding like a Jabs era Scorpions song, Disease is total 90s modern rock riffing and vocals even have effects.

I would love to work with Billy again. He was a genius as well Mikki Dee is a blast to play with. Collider: Looking back at the Dokken records from that period, and just music from that genre in general, how do you feel those songs hold up today? I would say that 70 percent of our songs still hold up. Any chance this song will ever be made available as part of a new greatest hits package or box set? Don Dokken: It was a bonus track on the Japan release. Collider: Who are you listening to these days?

Who would we find on your iPod? Honest, I listen to classical mostly. It keeps my mind fresh to write rock songs. Thanks so much, Don, for taking the time to answer my questions. 8. Dokken have a huge weight to carry, and that weight is their legacy. Rated against Under Lock And Key, or Back For The Attack this album will always be a disappointment, and I suppose naming it after a classic track from one of those well loved discs invites comparisons. However looked at individually this is a decent album.
